In the past, the only option may have been to hire more such personnel and increase the patrols. That’s about to change thanks to Sony Electronics and its IPELA IP video surveillance cameras. The global manufacturer of electronics is quickly becoming the purveyor of choice for such equipment, especially in light of the fact that its cameras are compatible with mesh network technology. Such technologies, when implemented correctly, can be a lifesaver—literally. “As more and more organizations become aware of the potential of such devices, their value becomes obvious,” said John Czapko, Vice President of Sales for BearCom, America’s only nationwide dealer of wireless communications equipment. Because of its experience in the wireless industry and technological expertise, BearCom is increasingly being called upon to implement such systems. One recent installation of a wireless camera system took place in California, where the Ripon Police Department secured a U.S. Department of Justice safety grant worth $112,000 for an installation on the grounds of the Ripon Unified School District. “It’s something that we think is going to be a benefit to the schools and the community as a whole,” Police Chief Richard Bull told the Manteca Bulletin. “This system has worked great for us, and we think this will help us provide additional security when necessary.” Bull added that “the biggest thing about having these in our schools is that instead of having somebody in the office watching them, our officers and dispatchers will be able to watch them at all times. It’s something that will be extremely useful, especially in terms of preventing vandalism and problems when schools aren’t in session.” Bull has plenty of company concerning his praise for the technology. “With Sony cameras, we now have a cost-effective way of adding live video surveillance to our current mesh network, while extending wireless coverage,” said Mitch Weinzetl, chief of police in Buffalo, MN. “Since every new camera adds an additional router to the network, our officers now have a higher level of wireless connectivity.” For more information or to learn how organizations like yours have been able to improve their operations through the use of wireless technologies, contact BearCom today at IPVideoSystems@BearCom.com or 800.527.1670, or visit the BearCom Web site. |
